Politico Playbook NY

FIRST IN PLAYBOOK: An Uber-backed advocacy group will launch a $2 million ad campaign today urging Hochul and state lawmakers to address car insurance costs.

The ads, which will appear on broadcast and cable TV as well as digital and print platforms, are meant to draw attention to costly car insurance premiums for New York drivers.

The campaign, run by a coalition called Citizens for Affordable Rates, is drafting off politically potent efforts to address the cost of living.

“If Albany wants to do something about the cost of living, our state leaders can start by lowering the cost of driving,” said James Freedland, a spokesperson for the group. “Working families in every corner of New York are being crushed by the high cost of car insurance, and policymakers can’t afford to ignore it any longer. This is an affordability crisis that requires urgent action now.” — Nick Reisman. Read More
